Kathy Heedles
Kathy Heedles is currently teaching choral music to grades 6-12 at the American International School in Vienna, Austria. A native of Iowa, she has taught in two schools in Iowa, The American School of Honduras, and remained at AISV for 29 years. Teaching MS general music through the choral experience and classroom keyboarding as well as HS Choirs, festivals, and musicals and voice lessons make up the position she occupies. As a soprano vocalist and pianist/accompanist, Kathy has conducted MS AMIS festivals, accompanied both Middle and High School festivals, and had a sabbatical with the famous Vienna Boys Choir a few years ago.
She is married to Henry Heedles, a Math and PE teacher at AISV and they have three children Elle at the Univ. of Edinburgh, Emma in her 12 grade year and Paul in his 10th grade year. They have a home in the Vienna woods and Kathy enjoys conducting an adult community choir of 50 singers in German each week, which supports local events as well as giving two large concerts per year. Kathy will take 35 singers to perform the Mozart Requiem Mass in NYC’s Carnegie Hall in February and 12 singers to the TAISM Festival of Choirs in Muscat, Oman. AISV is a member of the AMIS- Association for Music in International Schools. |
